THE CADILLAC XT4 VS LINCOLN MKC

The Crossover SUV segment is huge and the competition is beyond fierce! Manufacturers can't seems to churn them out fast enough to give the consumer an additional option. Thankfully there is a crossover SUV for every price point and every market segment from compact to more full sized options. On the smaller, more compact side of the segment, there has been a missing link for some time up until now and that is the luxury crossover. Sure, many of the import manufacturers have been producing the larger sized, more popular crossover SUVs for some time now, but the market has shown that there is a need for the luxury on a smaller scale.

Lincoln's popular, and ever evolving MKC has been a very popular choice for a number of years now, but now the king of luxury, the standard of the world has entered this hot market and is ready to offer a vehicle to the market that is sure to turn heads and have vehicle shoppers spending extra time doing their research and lining up at the dealership door when it opens. That brand is Cadillac, and it's newest vehicle is the XT4 crossover SUV. So how does the Cadillac XT4 size up to the Lincoln? Let's take a look.

These two crossovers have many things in common like seating for 5, standard FWD with available AWD, front and rear cup holders, cruise control and 4 DC power outlets throughout. But that is where the similarities end between these two hot and popular vehicles. From here on out it becomes a battle. So let's let the bell ring for round one.

One of Cadillac's focus throughout the years has been to provide the driver with a smooth and comfortable ride. The suspension of the XT4 was brilliantly tuned for a combination of comfort and control, but it is the vehicle's transmission that takes the cake in this round. While the Lincoln offers a silky smooth shifting 6 speed transmission, seen in most vehicles these days, Cadillac took it as step further to ensure a heightened level of comfort with a 9 speed automatic transmission.

In terms of get up and go the Lincoln just barely inches by the Cadillac producing only 8 more horsepower. BUT, what the Cadillac XT4 lacks in horsepower, it makes up for in fuel economy offering 22 city and 29 highway to the Lincoln's 19 and 25, respectively. And with its larger gas tank, you'll be able to drive further, in a smooth shifting vehicle without having to worry about stopping for fuel as often as you might in the Lincoln. The Cadillac also has a lighter ground weight which aids in its less thirsty behavior.

Oh! Did we mention for the enjoyment of both front and rear seat passengers, the Cadillac offers a 1st And 2nd row exterior express open/close sliding and tilting glass sunroof. Day and night time drives are always better with natural light. it is these features, and many more that allow the Cadillac XT4 to shine brighter than the Lincoln MKC and we feel these are some of the biggest reasons you would want to drive one over the other.
